Privacy Statement

Any personal information that is collected while registering for an account and submitting a manuscript to Planetary Research will be used solely for the purpose of running a peer-reviewed scientific journal. The collection of personal data will be kept to an absolute minimum, and will include names, email addresses, and ORCID iDs. Personal data will be used to manage manuscript submissions, to contact peer reviewers, and to send email alerts. No information regarding user accounts will be shared outside of the journal's editorial board.

As part of the peer review process, the journal is required to store copies of each submitted manuscript and all correspondence with the authors and reviewers. The only information that will be shared with the public is the final manuscript that is published on the journal website and the accompanying peer review report that contains the reviews, author rebuttals, and editor decisions. The journal will not provide any identifying information about the reviewers in the peer review report beyond what is volunteered in the unedited reviews. Users can ask to have their account with the journal deleted at any time, but in order to preserve a complete record of the peer review process, any prior submitted manuscripts and correspondence will not be deleted from the journal's internal records.

Use of Personal Data — ORCID Login & Integration

This platform allows you to sign in and link your profile using your ORCID iD. ORCID serves both as the authentication provider (login) and as a source of author information.

What data may be shared or stored

From ORCID: your ORCID iD, email address, given name, family name.

If you authorize it, selected publication metadata (e.g. titles, co-authors, DOI) may be synchronized between OJS and your ORCID record.

Authorization status, API tokens, and their expiration dates may be stored securely in OJS.

How we use it

  • To authenticate you via ORCID instead of a local OJS password. After linking, login will only occur through ORCID.
  • To create or update your OJS user profile with the information provided by ORCID.
  • To synchronize publication metadata to your ORCID record, but only with your explicit permission.
  • To generate a secure API key for interoperability with other systems.

Your rights & choices

Linking your ORCID is voluntary. You may refuse or withdraw consent at any time, though some features (login, metadata synchronization) may not be available without it.

You may unlink ORCID from your OJS account at any time.

You have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data as provided under applicable data protection law.
