Privacy statement

Any personal information that is collected while registering for an account and submitting a manuscript to Planetary Research will be used solely for the purpose of running a peer-reviewed scientific journal. The collection of personal data will be kept to an absolute minimum, and will include names, email addresses, and ORCID iDs. Personal data will be used to manage manuscript submissions, to contact peer reviewers, and to send email alerts. No information regarding user accounts will be shared outside of the journal's editorial board. Users have the right to access, correct, delete or export their personal data at any time.

As part of the peer review process, the journal is required to store copies of each submitted manuscript and all correspondence with the authors and reviewers. The only information that will be shared with the public is the final manuscript that is published on the journal website and the accompanying peer review report that contains the reviews, author rebuttals, and editor decisions. The journal will not provide any identifying information about the reviewers in the peer review report beyond what is volunteered in the unedited reviews. In order to preserve a complete record of the peer review process, it is not possible to delete any prior submitted manuscripts or author correspondence from the journal's internal records.

ORCID login and profile integration

Planetary Research allows you to sign in to the journal using your ORCID account, and also to securely link your ORCID iD to your journal account. ORCID serves both as the authentication provider (to login) and also as a source of author information (ORCID iD, name and email).

When registering with the journal, we collect your ORCID iD, your full name, and if your ORCID profile permits it, your email address. As part of the login process, the authorization status and any API tokens and expiration dates may also be stored securely in the OJS software.

Orcid is used to:

  • authenticate for login instead of using a local OJS username and password. After linking your profile to your ORCID iD, the login to the journal website will occur only through ORCID.
  • To create or update your OJS user profile with the information provided by ORCID (ORCID iD, name, and email).
  • To generate a secure API key for interoperability with other systems.

The linking of ORCID iDs is required for all authors and co-authors as part of the peer review process. Following publication of an article, the authors and co-authors may at any time unlink their ORCID account to their account with the journal.
